In a matchup of American League aces, Justin Verlander was a little bit sharper than Roy Halladay.
Verlander pitched two shutout innings and Curtis Granderson homered for the second consecutive day to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 on Friday.
The 2006 AL Rookie of the Year, Verlander allowed one hit while throwing 19 of his 26 pitches for strikes.
“He looked good with good command,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland said.
