Casey Fossum is building momentum with his first regular-season start just 10 days away.
Fossum tossed five shutout innings to lead the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to a 1-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.
“I thought he was really sharp,” Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon. “He should gain some confidence both mentally and physically.”
Fossum, who will start Tampa Bay’s home opener on April 6 against Toronto, allowed five hits, struck out three and walked one.
