Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi claimed Wednesday that catcher Rod Barajas backed out of a deal with Toronto after signing a terms sheet with the team.
Toronto agreed to a $7.25 million, two-year contract to with Gregg Zaun on Tuesday after Barajas switched agents and his deal with Toronto came undone.
Ricciardi said he’s never experienced anything like it in his career. The Blue Jays planned on having Barajas and his family fly to Toronto for a news conference on Tuesday.
