    Blue Jays-Indians game rained out

The Toronto Blue Jays-Cleveland Indians game was postponed by rain Sunday and will be made up in a doubleheader on Monday.

Sunday’s scheduled starters, Toronto’s A.J. Burnett and Cleveland’s Fausto Carmona, are scheduled to pitch in the first game beginning at 4:05 p.m. Indians left-hander Cliff Lee, off to an impressive start this season, will face Shaun Marcum in the nightcap.

Sizemore’s two homers power Indians’ rout

Grady Sizemore gave Indians fans a couple of extra mementoes in addition to those they received at the turnstiles.

With all fans taking home a Sizemore souvenir blanket, Cleveland’s center fielder sent two baseballs into the seats, too. He homered twice and drove in five runs to support Aaron Laffey’s sharp pitching in a 12-0 win over Toronto on Saturday night that sent the Blue Jays to their fourth straight loss.

Blue Jays OF Vernon Wells out 6-8 weeks with broken wrist

Vernon Wells will go from leading the Toronto Blue Jays in home runs and RBIs to leading the team in cheers.

The two-time All-Star outfielder was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a broken left wrist and is expected to miss six to eight weeks. He was injured while making a diving catch Friday night.

“I want to stay with the team and give my support,” Wells said before the Blue Jays played the Cleveland Indians.

Wells out 6-8 weeks after breaking wrist on dive

Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks with a broken left wrist.

The two-time All-Star was injured while making a diving catch Friday night in the sixth inning of Toronto’s 6-1 loss to Cleveland. The Blue Jays placed Wells on the 15-day disabled list Saturday along with reliever Jeremy Accardo, who is experiencing tightness in his right forearm.

    Sabathia pitches Tribe past Jays

Casey Blake delivered again in the clutch for the Cleveland Indians, this time breaking up a duel between Cy Young Award winners.

Blake hit a go-ahead, two-run double in a six-run seventh inning to help C.C. Sabathia and the Indians defeat Roy Halladay and the Toronto Blue Jays 6-1 on Friday night.

“We’ve been struggling to score for C.C. and to be able to do it feels good,” said Blake, a .228 career hitter with runners in scoring position who is batting .

    Indians 6, Blue Jays 1

Casey Blake and Ben Francisco hit two-run doubles in a six-run seventh inning to help C.C. Sabathia and the Cleveland Indians defeat Roy Halladay and the Toronto Blue Jays 6-1 in a duel of Cy Young Award winners on Friday night.

Blue Jays center fielder Vernon Wells jammed his left wrist while making a diving catch and left in the sixth inning as Toronto lost for the 13th time in its last 14 games in Cleveland.

Blue Jays OF Wells leaves with wrist injury

Vernon Wells left the Toronto Blue Jays’ game against the Cleveland Indians on Friday night with an injured left wrist and tight right hamstring after making a diving catch in the sixth inning.

Blue Jays acquire OF Mench from Rangers, sign Wilkerson

The Toronto Blue Jays added some experience to their outfield Friday, acquiring Kevin Mench in a trade with the Texas Rangers and signing free agent Brad Wilkerson.

The Blue Jays gave the Rangers cash for Mench, who was with Triple-A Oklahoma after failing to make the club as a non-roster invitee in spring training. Mench was hitting .282 with three home runs and 18 RBIs in 29 games for Oklahoma.

Rangers trade OF Mench to Blue Jays for cash

The Texas Rangers traded outfielder Kevin Mench to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday for cash.

The 30-year-old Mench has spent the season with Triple-A Oklahoma after failing to make the Rangers as a non-roster invitee in spring training. He was hitting .282 with three home runs and 18 RBIs in 29 games for Oklahoma.

Mench was drafted by the Rangers in 1999 and hit at least 25 home runs in consecutive seasons in 2004-05 before getting traded to Milwaukee in a deadline deal for Carlos Lee in 2006.
